An Irishman called Evan Griffin recently leant his dad a GoPro so the ol' guy could document his holiday to Las Vegas. Unfortunately for Dad, but extremely fortunate for the internet, he had the thing pointing the wrong way for the entire trip.
What results is a visual stream of unconsciousness that documents the banal musings of a regular man in an irregular place. By constricting the viewer to the confines of this heretofore unknown patriarch's unfamiliar expressions and thoughts, the video subjects us to something deeper. We are plunged into pure narration, de-contextualised. It's unnerving. And yet by forcing us to engage in idiosyncrasies which would otherwise be eliminated by the tawdry structures of Sin City, we don't just tolerate the discomfort, we revel in it.
And it's a bloody good laugh to boot!
