For some reason, Old Read-y (I'm assuming this is his nickname) didn't realise that a hackneyed commodification of Caribbean music performed in a fake accent might not sit too well with the 'right-on media' (UKIP's words, not mine), so he was pretty shocked when folks started calling him a racist.
He just never suspected an immigrant-bashing song sung in a manner that bastardised the culture of one of the country's most entrenched group of immigrants could possibly be problematic, so he quickly assured people that he's got loads of mates in the Caribbean.
In one of the most effective retroactive responses in human history, Ricky Gervais recently re-posted a video he made well over a year ago called Equality Street. LOOK:
I watched it before I saw the date it was added to YouTube, and just assumed it was a counter to Read's effort. It just proves that when a party is as consistently incompetent as UKIP, you can pretty much anticipate their gaffes.
