Last year, Don't Panic London and the National Autistic Society kicked off their #AutismTMI campaign with Can You Make It End?, a short film which explored the pressures autistic children face in everyday life. Starring an actor with the condition, Alex Marshall, the film conveyed the stressful impact of normal stimuli - such as a busy shopping centre - and encouraged viewers to empathise with autistic people. With innovative sound design and a story rooted in lived experiences, the film experienced acclaim and popularity.
Now the advertising agency and the charity are launching Year 2 of #AutismTMI with Make It Stop. This short film follows Holly, a child with the condition, as she travels to go ice skating; however, she doesn't have enough time to process various interactions throughout the day, building up until she's overwhelmed. Once the film was completed, it was screened in the actor's school with an assembly to talk about autism; as more than 1 in 100 people live with the condition, it's time to really build understanding and support in society.
