MONKEY SHOULDER SOCIAL CLUB

After grabbing a miniature hot-toddy from a man in a dressing gown (why not?) and some indulgent macaroni cheese from a passing waiter, there was nothing for it but to head forth and mingle.

After some serious dancing – thanks DJ A Skillz - a few cheeky rounds of Rebel Bingo whipped the crowds into a raucous (and marginally numerically-challenged) frenzy. There were cocktail-making lessons and a vintage games room providing hours of entertainment as people flung themselves intently at the boxing machine, and, when it all got too much, there was even a cosy movie room to chill out in.

Cocktails ranged from the Old Fashioned – Monkey Shoulder whisky, sugar and a dash of Angostura bitters, to my personal favourite, the Ginger Brewsky – a fiery, lemony, gingery concoction. Waitresses pinged delicious tasters back and forth too: the biting December cold outside wasn't the only thing stopping me from hurrying home.
