3 gunmen armed with AK47’s targeted the offices of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo killing the Editor-in-Chief Stephane Charbonnier, well-known French cartoonists Jean Cabu, Stephane Charbonnier, Georges Wolinski and Bernard "Tignous" Verlhac and 2 policemen amongst others.
It’s believed that the magazine was attacked because it has previously published cartoons mocking the Prophet Mohammed.
The killers have been named as Said and Chérif Kouachi, brothers aged 34 and 32, and Hamid Mourad, 18.
Amidst the grief, artists have come together to fight for free speech and show worldwide solidarity by creating their own cartoons.
The moving tributes are being uploaded onto Twitter.
