Although some may view it as a middling nineties comedy, the economic and social consequences of the past decade prove that Office Space was one of the more prophetic films ever made. The consuming effect of the workplace in Mike Judge's 1999 film may have seemed ridiculous then, but anyone who works in an office these days can tell you that early starts and 11pm emails are pretty much par for the course. Expected actually, perhaps even cherished.
One of the best gags revolved around the shit jokes you have to hear from colleagues on a daily basis. Namely, the character who was the name-sake of Michael Bolton, a soft-rocker who sold a million records to mums the world over. For those who haven't seen it, it's one of the more accurate reflections of modern misery: The knowledge that you'll spend most of your life enduring the small talk of people who suck.
Funny or Die recently re-cut the film featuring the real Michael Bolton as the fake Michael Bolton. Have a look, and if you haven't seen the film, go an watch it.
