Ahh summertime. We're dreaming of sandy beaches, orange sunsets, white washed walls and the sprawling shadows of spikey palm trees. But we have nothing to wear.

After having spent much of the year covered up; summer, festivals and holidays abroad can mean a whole new wardrobe for many. Particularly most blokes, who have it harder than just the addition or removal of tights and jumpers.

It's time when shorts and polos come in to their own and we welcome a more 'preppy' look.

Original Penguin's SS16 collection is the perfect example of a brand who give you that 'fresh off the tennis courts' look with their bright whites and colourful plaids– a nod to the 70's golf aesthetic– which are mixed in with saturated and pastel colours.

The drop also features warmer, muted shades inspired by the colours of dusty desert track and gridded checks and active stripes add a graphical element to the subtle textures which keeps the collection looking clean and modern.

Perhaps the most exciting item in the collection is their hydro jacket which uses a smart fabric construction that reacts to water, revealing a subtle new pattern when wet. It's light and airy but will keep you bone dry if you get caught in bad festival weather or a tropical downpour.

Original Penguin want you to be festival ready so we've teamed up with them to bring you an exclusive competition. The prize is a record bag full of goodies including the aforementioned hydro jacket, a suitably nautical pair of swim shorts, plus plenty more wicked essential accessories.

You have until 5th June to enter via our competition page www.dontpaniconline.com/win

In the meantime, check out the collection at Original Penguin or in your local House of Fraser store.
