Currently Paris is the host of a much-vaunted U.N. climate conference, where nations of the world gather to act on environmental concerns such as limiting climate change and promoting clean energy.
There has been disagreement among countries about what measures to take, while on the ground there have been clashes between demonstrators and police. Under France's current state of emergency - imposed after last month's terror attacks - all protests have been banned and around 200 arrests made in relation to clashes.
Yesterday, ten performers representing groups like End oil-sponsorship of the arts, BP or not BP?, G.U.L.F. Liberate Tate and others were arrested and detained for protesting oil company Total's sponsorship of the Louvre. The protestors object to the oil industry attempting to 'cleanse' its image through cultural activity, as well the industry's pushes against meaningful environmental measures at the Paris conference.
Despite their arrests, the protestors were able to use a smuggled mobile phone to share this message. #FOSSILFREECULTURE
