After the success of the Kickstarter-funded Oculus Rift, the possibility of virtual reality (VR) video gaming has felt like it was only moments away.
Weighing in on the fledgling VR market, Sony has just announced Project Morpheus, a VR headset for PlayStation 4. The prototype uses a 1080p LCD, includes a 90-degree field of view, and will integrate with the PlayStation Camera for tracking and PlayStation Move for motion control. Talking about the headset, Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Worldwide Studios said “it is the culmination of our work over the last three years to realize our vision of VR for games, and to push the boundaries of play."
