Over the past year, certain people have decided that the most egregious consequence of neoliberalism is a £3.50 bowl of Cocoa Puffs. So over the weekend, a group called Fuck Parade LDN went and threw paint at the Cereal Killer Cafe, the independent business that's become the de facto symbol of the capital's social cleansing. Even though it's a mere stones throw from the City, in the same borough as Canary Wharf, and a cup of porridge costs £3.50 at Pret.
The last thing I want to do is contribute another think-piece to the op-ed maelstrom that's currently whirling across the net, so I'll only offer this: A Guardian article links to an IndieGoGo page in which Fuck Parade tried to crowdfund their costs for “music, pyrotechnics and cheeky banner drops.”
They've since removed it. Probably because the Cereal Cafe funded their business in the same manner, on the very same website.
