SINGING IN SIGN LANGUAGE

Sign Language in the States.
over 50,000 of British Sign Language in the UK and simultaneously over 500,000 users of American
Sign Language in the States.

Likewise, there are loads of videos on YouTube in American and British signed languages (they’re entirely different, too!) Taking the rhythmic and lyrical quality of the music and mixing it into another language, with a bit of dance going on, makes for a spectacle to watch. This is so much the case that most of the people watching these videos are actually hearing!

videos are actually hearing capable!

Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger (ASL)

Daft Punk’s Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger has already had some hands all over it in another sense, with a crazy lyrics-on-hands video, but this group does it some ASL justice. With some intense teamwork going down, they make a well-oiled machine of signing that both looks wicked and accurately interprets the song.

Fuck You (ASL)

Some messages can ring true in any language. Cee Lo’s Fuck You is just as poignant and amusing in ASL.

22 (BSL)

Here's a little-known fact: ASL and its British counterpart BSL are totally different! Check out this BSL version of Lily Allen's song 22.

Bohemian Rhapsody (ASL)

The ultimate rock-out ballad, Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody only recently got a proper ASL treatment on YouTube. The complex story behind the song translates nicely into signed language, and the guy interpreting seems to be enjoying himself.

We R Who We R (ASL)

Michael DiMartino has become a bit of a YouTube star with his provocative, strange ASL music videos. Many of his videos combine sign, scantily-clad scenes and some pretty wicked dance moves. His take of Ke$ha’s We R Who We R is pretty tame compared to some of his other works - his shirt stays on the entire time!
