One luddite in New York clearly thought this was the case when he hopped on stage at a Broadway show to charge his phone. Unfortunately the outlet was fake, because it was part of the set:
You can picture it now. The beleaguered mother taking her son to a Broadway show in a last ditch effort to expose him to a bit of culture, in the faint hope that maybe he'll stop spending most of his day masturbating in the basement between bouts of CoD and ramen noodles. She begins to weep, silently, as her son taps his phone even after the play has started, proving yet again that he can't rid himself of a screen for even two hours.
Then, to everyone's utter disbelief, he interrupts a scene in Hand of God in a vain attempt to plug his phone in a fake outlet in a fake kitchen, in a jarring few seconds which cause the mother to realise she has failed as a parent. Her son may as well be dead.
What's worse, is that someone managed to film the whole thing within seconds of it happening. I bet that guy was texting during the play too.
The lead actor had this to say:
Dear general audience, an electrical socket that's a part of the set of the play is NOT for you to charge your iPhone.....just an FYI.....
