Behind every craftsman is a good whiskey. In this case; The Balvenie. The Balvenie is the whiskey we choose at Christmas. The single malt takes pride of place amongst all the mince pies and Baileys. And, as well as being an excellent present for dads (the hardest people on earth to buy for) it makes a cracking hot toddy.
Whilst purchasing a special bottle for our ol' pa we discovered that the masters behind our favourite malt have designed and launched a new website celebrating other skilled makers, their trade and their creativity.
Going back to our early statement, The Balvenie Commission
acts as more than just a promotional platform. The Balvenie Commission is a bursary fund set up to not only promote tradesmen but to support them and their craft.
The website is in its early days, but we already love all that it stands for. And we desperately want to check out that G.J. Cleverley & Co
, the bespoke shoemakers shop, in Mayfair and celeb spot in the 'lasts'.
There's something awe inspiring about craftsmanship so near perfect that it has barely changed in a hundred years. A practise that has not been invaded by machinery and mass production. Where the makers hands bare the lines and the scars of years of hard work, practise and expert skill.
