THE DIVING PIGS OF CHINA

Unbeknownst to me, China has a May day tradition which involves pigs diving into a lake. Or more accurately, pigs being gently pushed until they fall 39-feet into the water below. According to a New York Times blog on the event, that's six feet higher than the loftiest platform in Olympic diving.

Proponents argue that diving is a better fate than the one experienced by piggies in factory farms, which seems fair enough. Opponents probably don't buy that, which also seems fair enough.
