In Nicolas Winding Refn’s Only God Forgives, the digital FX were used mostly to accentuate some pretty convincing (and very gory) practical effects, as well as to create composites which furthered the film’s progressively unsettling tone. Like the best movie magic, a lot of the tricks showcased here are ones you didn’t even know were there. Completely fascinating:
