After slogging behind Amazon in recent years, HMV has recently overtaken to become the top music retailer of the year. With demand for physical products returning, the store's sales have increased dramatically, taking in £17 million profit last year.
The store's revamp has been masterminded by Hilco, which oversaw the company's change in direction after taking tips from independant record stores across the UK.
The new HMV website is expected to go live within the next few weeks. It will give customers the opportunity to purchase CDs, vinyls, speakers and a range of other products. HMV is also planning to open new stores in throughout the UK and Ireland. It seems ‘His Masters Voice’ is on a comeback.
