Directed by Matthew Heineman and executive produced by Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty), Cartel Land charts the bold efforts of two vigilante groups along the US/Mexico border. The Knights Templar cartel have plunged the area into violence, so locals in Michoacan are arming themselves against them. As are groups on the US side, who fear the effects are splling into the United States.
For what is effectively a decades long bloodbath, the drug trafficking between Central and North America seems largely underreported. This looks like it will be a vital piece of film.
