Along with showing up three hours late to shows, Lauryn Hill has been putting in strong performances as a narrator. The latest film she's lent her voice to is Concerning Violence, an eye-opening doc about the decolonisation and liberation of Africa.
Directed by Göran Hugo Olsson, the film documents the brutality of colonialism and the hard-fought battles for independence. Unsurprisingly, the newly discovered archival footage can be difficult to watch, yet that only further highlights how crucial it is.
It's little wonder Concerning Violence claimed the Cinema Fairbindet Prize at the Berlin International Film Festival and was nominated for the Sundance Film Festival’s Grand Jury Prize. Make sure you catch it when it's released on 28 November.
