Terrence Malick, the enigmatic auteur behind Badlands, The Thin Red Line and The Tree of Life, seems to have complemented his usual visual poetry with a down and dirty character study in his new one. The trailer for Knight of Cups features Christian Bale's lead thrashing through some debauched hollywood lifestyle until he (just about reaches) the other side.

It looks brilliant and exhausting, like all dramas should really. Makes for a nice change from grass blowing in the wind and random dinosaurs.
