At age 26, Matt VanDyke left his native Baltimore to embark on a self-described 'crash course in manhood.' It entailed a proposed trip through North Africa and the Middle East. Plans were scuppered when Revolution broke out in Libya. Thanks to an unlikely friend, VanDyke soon joined the forces fighting Gaddafi.
Marshall Curry's new documentary explores this extraordinary tale, which is undoubtedly one of the most compelling of our time.
