TED: TALKING TO PLANTS

Darwin has been saying plants are more than just salad since the 1800s, way before Dr. Stefano Mancuso started his ecology studies in Italy. He claims that apparently the blue whale isn’t actually the largest “creature” in existence on the planet after all, since compared to a Sequoia tree, the whale is a “dwarf”. Laws of nature say that a Venus flytrap eating a snail cannot not be possible, but they do, don’t they? So, plants are intelligent, they have feelings, and now vegetarians are screwed.

Plants fiddle around outside to catch the sun in order to soak in their vitamins/food. If they know enough to know that moving will get them closer to the light, clearly they’re as smart as an animal, or a human, even. Yeah, OK. Plants were definitely a bit brighter than those blue things in Avatar, seeing as they depended on the green plant population for living and to communicate with their God’s.

Listen a little further to Dr. Mancuso’s explanation. It’s a little wacky, but if it worked for the Navis…
